Introducing Falkirk Distillery’s New Kelpies Sherry & Bourbon Release Single Malt Whisky’s
Falkirk Whisky Distillery rests in the heart of the lowlands of Scotland.
To celebrate our five years of production, the distillery has released two remarkable cask strength whiskies, each as unique as the story of Falkirk Distillery.
Both cask strength single malts are distilled using spring water drawn from artesian spring on the site of the iconic Falkirk Distillery. This, together with our historic Speyside copper stills and mash tun, produces an unrivalled lowland spirit.
The distillery’s traditional dunnage warehousing allows the spirit to mature whilst it absorbs the individual characteristics of our sherry and bourbon casks. Each cask has a distinct character and deserves to be savoured in its purest form.
TASTING NOTES
SHERRY - around 61%
Colour - deep amber, light sienna Nose - steeped fruits, molasses, figs, sweet prunes, Demerara sugar, ginger cake, honeycomb. Full and lingering.
Palate - treacle toffee, steeped fruits again, dates, old leather, boot polish, spice/nutmeg. Balanced mouthfeel.
Medium to long finish and takes water well.
Complexity beyond its years. A cracking, satisfying dram, perfect for Christmas in front of the fire. More than warrants being a single cask offering.
BOURBON - around 59%
Colour - light honey
Nose - youthful, slight nose prickle, candy peel, maraschino cherries, spruce forest, pine freshness. Some citrus maybe apples.
Palate - barley sugar, slight green apple tartness (soor plooms), sherbet, marzipan.
Medium length finish and again, like the sherry finish, takes water well.
